The University of Alberta, founded in 1908 and based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, serves 36,000 students across 200 undergraduate and 170 graduate programs. It includes agriculture, arts, business, education, law, medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmaceutical sciences, recreation, public health, extension, and other departments. Between 1994 and 2006, the university earned over 350 patents on technologies developed at its research facilities. It has issued over 250 technology licenses, generating revenue of $30 million. The university has 47 alumni branches worldwide. The branches serve 200,000 alumni.
