Quanta Computer Incorporated (QCI), founded in 1988 and based in Tao Yuan Shien, Taiwan, is a computer original design manufacturer (ODM) that serves clients worldwide. The firm integrates third-party components, creating customized automotive, home electronics, and business network systems. Automotive systems include navigation, entertainment, and communications features. The company's Enterprise Solution Business Unit (ESBU) develops enterprise network systems that integrate third-party rackmount and blade servers, switches, routers, broadband access devices, and software. ESBU also develops and integrates keyboard/video/mouse (KVM) systems. QCI is one of the largest laptop manufacturers in the world. Partners include Hewlett-Packard and Dell. The company began participating in the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) project in 2005, producing low-cost, portable computers for children in third world countries. The Linux-based OLPC notebooks include a dual mode 7.5-inch TFT LCD screen and mesh network features. The laptops can be recharged with manually produced electrical current.
