Wavesat Incorporated was founded in 1993 and is based in Montreal, Canada. Wavesat is a semiconductor developer of WiMAX broadband network chips and development tools and was the releaser of the world's first WiMAX chip. The company was the first to commercialize WiMAX compliant chips and works with more than 30 customers to deploy these systems. Wavesat's Evolutive(TM) product series offers standards-based integrated circuits, software, and reference system designs for OFDM BWA 802.16 compliance. Wavesat is involved with the IEEE and WiMAX mobility working groups and claims over 50 design wins with wireless OEM, ODM, and infrastructure customers in the United States, Eastern Europe, China, Taiwan, India, and Korea. The company has been involved with mobile subsystems, OFDM, and PFGA technology throughout its history but launched its Evolutive(TM) WiMAX chip in the second quarter of 2004. Wavesat lists its core competencies as its unique OFDM experience and its ASIC design and architecture. In addition to the Evolutive(TM) WiMAX chipset, Wavesat's product line includes CPE MAC software, mini-PCI reference designs, and the UMobile(TM) WiMAX series.
