Technitrol (R) Incorporated, founded in 1947, develops a variety of electronic and electrical components. The firm's systems are employed in wireline and wireless communications, Internet and broadband access, power management, vehicle navigation, and other systems. The company's Pulse unit produces transformers, filters, chokes, inductors, delay lines, wireless handset antennas, and automotive ignition system and control coils. The AMI Doduco unit produces electrical contacts and contact materials and assemblies. Technitrol was the first company in the world to hold a patent on computer magnetic drive technology. The drives were employed by leading mainframe developers throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Technitrol acquired Fil-Mag in 1994, Pulse Engineering in 1995, Nortel Networks' magnetic components business in 1997, and FEE Technology SA and Valor Electronics in 1998. The firm also acquired Excelsus Technologies in 2001, Edlor Corporation in 2003, LK Products in 2005, and ERA Group in 2006. The acquisitions have allowed the company to expand its product base and reach customers in Europe and Asia. Technitrol is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the TNL symbol.
