Sanswire Networks LLC, based in Pembroke Pines, Florida, is a GlobeTel Communications Corporation subsidiary that is known for its Stratellite (TM) high-altitude airship, which operates as a wireless, high-speed data communications platform. Each Stratellite airship supports the delivery of mobile, paging, telephony, high definition television, and other data services to consumers across 126,000 square miles. The technology also can support military communications. The rigid-frame airship employs proprietary lifting gas technology to reach altitudes to 65,000 feet. It includes Global Positioning System (GPS), photovoltaic (PV), and computer-controlled propulsion components. The platform supports parent company GlobeTel Communications' electronic payment and IP telephony technologies. Sanswire Networks is developing a fleet of airships. Parent company GlobeTel Communications went public in 2002. It is listed on the American Stock Exchange under the GTE symbol. Sanswire Networks was founded as Sanswire Technologies. It was acquired by GlobeTel Communications in 2004.
