The online resource includes hotel descriptions, fare trend graphs, consumer reviews, professional articles, and links. The firm's search platform allows consumers to find and compare travel products and services that are offered by businesses worldwide. It searches hundreds of Web sites in real time. It includes sorting and filtering tools, forums, and RSS feeds. Kayak.com provides users with information on airlines, hotels, and car rental agencies. The MultiBook (TM) technology allows consumers to select itinerary packages from suppliers, online and offline agencies, and consolidators. Kayak Buzz displays 25 popular destinations from consumers' hometowns. Buzz Alerts e-mails provide users with travel updates. Kayak.com does not operate a travel agency. It generates revenue from advertising. Approximately 500 companies advertise on the Kayak Network. Kayak.com has formed partnerships with America Online (AOL), USA Today, Lonely Planet, About.com, and Info.com. Investors include General Catalyst, AOL, and Sequoia Capital. The firm has raised over $15 million in funding. Kayak.com has won recognition from 'Forbes.' Kayak.com was launched by Steve Hafner and Paul English, who also are co-founders of Orbitz, Travelocity, and Expedia.
