Telenet NV, incorporated in 1996 and based in Flanders, Belgium, provides subscribers with telephony and Internet services. The firm completed the rollout of its fiber backbone in 1997. It began offering Flanders residents Internet services in the same year. The company is known for its Comfortnet, Expressnet, and Expressnet Plus Internet services. Residential telephony services were launched in 1998. In 2002, Telenet acquired Electrabel's cable television business and its MIC network. A year later, the firm acquired broadband ISP Codenet NV and the assets of WiFi hotspot operator Sinfilo. Through its PayTVCo NV subsidiary, Telenet acquired assets from Canal+ group in 2003. The acquisition allowed the firm to provide Flanders cable subscribers with sports, entertainment, and other content. Broadcasts are offered under the PRIME brand. Telenet introduced interactive digital television services in Flanders in 2005. The firm went public in the same year. It is listed on the Euronext Brussels exchange under the TNET symbol. Telenet acquired Hypertrust in 2006. In the same year, it launched the Telenet Mobile business. Telenet provides over 1 million subscribers with Internet, telephony, and pay television services.
