Barco NV, founded in 1934 and based in Kortrijk, Belgium, provides customers across Europe, North America, and Asia with large-screen, high-resolution visualization and display products. The firm's systems support medical imaging, security and surveillance, air traffic management, avionics, digital cinema, industrial inspection, broadcasting, and other operations. The company was founded as the Belgian American Radio Corporation (Barco) by Lucien DePuydt. The firm began manufacturing broadcast studio monitors in 1968. The company acquired Trans-Lux West and Beijing LEYARD Electronics Technology Company Limited in 2003. The following year, it acquired Voxar and Folsom Research Incorporated. Barco acquired System Technologies in 2005. Barco went public in 1987, with shares listed on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
