Through 2004, the firm had shipped over 5 billion memory and microprocessor smartcards. The company also is known for its software, middleware, and smart card interface, reader, and chipset products. GISA is known for its GemXplore and BioEasy products. The firm's systems comply with ITSEC, FIPS, and other quality standards. The company also provides clients with training, integration, and other technical support services. GISA acquired customer relationship management (CRM) technology firm SL InfoWare in 2000 and electronic passport developer Setec Oy, in 2005. The firm maintains 10 manufacturing, four research and development, and 50 sales and marketing facilities worldwide. It employs approximately 5,500 people, including over 600 engineers. GISA is listed on NASDAQ and Euronext. The firm promotes the adoption of open platform smartcard standards. It is a member of the Smart Card Forum.
