Facebook Incorporated, founded in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg, Chris Hughes and Dustin Moskovitz from a Harvard dorm room, is headquartered in Palo Alto, California, with offices in New York and London. The company provides free online social networking to over 65 million active users with a valid email address. Based on networks established around a region, school or company, users are allowed to communicate with only those whom they have confirmed as friends, coworkers, classmates and others through unlimited publishing and sharing of photos, links and videos. With its security tools, Facebook provides a secure environment in which users may interact. The ability to highly target markets based on networks makes Facebook highly attractive to advertisers, its primary source of revenue. Facebook is the sixth most trafficked site in the United States, and its community grows at a rate of over 250,000 new registrations each day, with the 25 year old and older demographic being its fastest growing segment. With 14 million photos uploaded daily, Facebook is the number one photo sharing application on the Internet. Expanding the business relationship that was developed in 2006, in 2007 Facebook and Microsoft Incorporated, included international markets in their strategic advertising relationship. The privately owned company has developed various applications like notes, groups, events, marketplace, and more for people to grow their communities. There are approximately 140 new applications added daily.
