Omron Corporation, founded in 1933 as Tateisi Electric Manufacturing Company, provides clients worldwide with sensing and control components. The firm's technology is employed in industrial automation, home appliance, office equipment, automotive, financial, and health care products. It has developed non-contact proximity switch, automatic traffic signal, ticket vending, automated train station, automatic cancer cell diagnosis, and other systems. Omron also has developed motion detectors, switches, relays, inspection systems, printer components, motion controllers, fitness equipment, computer peripherals, and biometric security devices. The firm employs 23,000 people across 35 countries. In 2005, the firm acquired HDRC (R) sensor developer IMS VISION GmbH, renaming the company OMRON Automotive Electronics Technology GmbH. Omron's Grand Design for Year 2010 (GD2010) defines a number of corporate management goals.
