D-Wave Systems, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, is a privately owned firm that develops quantum computing systems for industrial clients. The company, spun off from the University of British Columbia in 1999, offers customers software programmable custom integrated circuits. The firm defined a commercial quantum computer design in 2004, and is working on developing that technology.
