Oce NV, founded in 1877 and based in Venlo, the Netherlands, develops digital document archiving, management, and delivery technologies. The systems allow users to transfer documents over internal networks and the Web. The firm also offers clients reprographic services. Oce develops high-volume systems for banks, insurance companies, and government agencies. It provides engineering and architectural firms with computer-aided design (CAD) wide-format and geographic information system (GIS) products. Oce merged with Jobe in 1964. In 1969, French firm CIAP joined the Oce Group. Oce then acquired BK Elliot and ICP. Oce introduced its first plain paper office copier in 1973. The business acquired Ozalid Group Holdings Limited in 1978 and Schlumberger's plotter division in 1989. In 1994, the firm introduced its Oce Image Logic technology, which automatically optimizes print output. In 1998, Oce acquired archiving software developer Groupware Technology Incorporated. It acquired OCR developer Computer Gesellschaft Konstanz in 2000. Oce employs over 22,000 people. It had revenues of $3.2 billion in 2002. North American revenues were $2.3 billion for 2002. The company maintains research and manufacturing facilities in the Netherlands, the United States, Germany, France, Belgium, the Czech Republic, and Japan. Stock is traded on the NASDAQ (OCENY).
