RedPrairie (R) Corporation, founded as McHugh Freeman & Associates in 1975, is a privately held company that develops supply chain management (SCM) software. The firm originally designed automated storage and retrieval systems for warehouses and distribution centers. The company introduced its first warehouse management system in the mid-1980s. The firm is known for its DigitaLogistix (R) SCM platform, which includes supply chain execution, optimization, process management, data integration, and workflow management components. The applications provide users with transportation management, supply chain security, trading partner integration, performance management, distribution optimization, workforce optimization, and other features. The DigitaLogistix programs support a variety of data formats. The systems are employed by organizations across the consumer packaged goods, food and beverage, computer technology, consumer electronics, pharmaceuticals, health care, distribution, and retail sectors. RedPrairie also offers clients logistics operations analysis, systems deployment, training, and other technical support services. In 1989, McHugh Freeman was acquired by Pinnacle Automation. McHugh Freeman then acquired Weseley Software in 1996. Those companies merged in 1997 to form McHugh Software International Incorporated. In 1998, McHugh Software acquired Software Architects Incorporated and Gagnon & Associates. In the same year, Advent International and GE Capital acquired a minority stake in McHugh Software. The firm then was spun off from Pinnacle Automation. The company was renamed RedPrairie in 2002. It opened an office in Shanghai, China in 2003.
