Financial Services Technology Consortium (FSTC), founded in 1993 and headquartered in New York, tests and validates financial services technology specifications. The consortium includes Bank of America, Bank One, Citigroup, Wachovia Corporation, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Sun Microsystems, the American Bankers Association (ABA), MasterCard International, the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), and other financial institutions, technology vendors, research organizations, and government agencies as members. FSTC focuses on extending existing financial services technologies. It also supports the development of Web systems and the use of open technology standards. The organization develops financial services product specifications and protocols. It has led electronic checking, risk management, interbank check imaging, and other development projects. Wells Fargo's Garrett Macey serves as FSTC's president. Zachary Tumin is the consortium's executive director.
