KLA-Tencor Corporation, formed with the merger of KLA Instruments and Tencor Instruments in 1997, is a process control and yield management system supplier that serves the semiconductor industry. Both KLA Instruments and Tencor Instruments were founded in 1976. KLA-Tencor provides integrated circuit (IC) manufacturers with software and analysis services. Products include wafer inspection and metrology systems. The firm's stock is traded on NASDAQ. In the second quarter of 2003, KLA-Tencor had revenues of $355 million and a net income of $29 million. KLA-Tencor is based in San Jose, California. It maintains additional manufacturing and research and development facilities in Milpitas, California, and Israel.
