Catena Networks, founded in 1998 and based in Morrisville, North Carolina, builds integrated broadband access systems that allow communications providers to deploy voice, data, and video services. The firm also helps carriers migrate to packet-based networks. Catena Networks' CNX-5 Broadband DSL System is a Lucent SLC-5 (T) Digital Loop Carrier upgrade product. The card provides two lines that integrate plain old telephone service (POTS) and DSL features. The company's CN1000 Broadband Loop Carrier is a high- density broadband access system that integrates voice, data, and video services over copper and fiber infrastructures. The system supports the remote provisioning of multiple services to subscribers. The CN1000FX suite provides carriers with fiber-to-the premises (FTTP) and fiber-to-the-neighborhood (FTTN) features. Catena Networks serves incumbent local exchange carriers (ILECs), independent operating companies, international Postal Telephone and Telegraph (PTT) operators, and other customers. Jim Hjartarson founded the company. He serves as its president and CEO. Catena Networks has secured $192 million in financing from Attractor Investment Management, BCE Capital, Goldman Sachs Group Incorporated, JPMorgan Partners, Menlo Ventures, Stanford University, and other firms.
