Versal Technologies Incorporated, founded in 1995 and based in Boston, Massachusetts, provides pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and other scientific research companies with information products and services. The firm is known for its Versal Metabase product, a Java- based application for Web applications. It also develops the Versal Query Engine, a Java library that automates database access. The Versal WebTrial System, introduced in 1998, allows researchers to streamline clinical trial processes. The product integrates with existing clinical data management systems (CDMSes) and provides secure access to distributed data. Versal Validation Kits offer users documentation and testing features. Versal Technologies was founded as a Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated subsidiary by Brian Perry and current CEO Greg Moody. In 1995, the company formed a development alliance with Domain Pharma's consulting unit. Two years later, it purchased majority ownership from Vertex. Versal Technologies customers include Agile Software and MTRA. Working with MTRA, Versal Technologies released the WebEclipse clinical information capture system in 2000. Its Data Direct product was introduced in 2003. It has formed strategic partnerships with PharmaPros, Highacre Systems, eResearchTechnology, and NoBarriers Interface Solutions.
