The U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Advanced Scientific Computing Research (OASCR), based in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, collects and disseminates research and development information. The office includes the Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI), which manages the Department of Energy (DOE) Technical Information Management Program (TIMP). The program allows the DOE to meet requirements of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954; the Department of Energy Organization Act; and the Federal Non-nuclear Energy Research and Development Act of 1974. OASCR's OSTI unit references TIMP in identifying, collecting, and distributing unclassified and classified DOE research data. The office also develops security and electronic data access guidelines.
