FANUC Robotics America Incorporated is based in Rochester Hills, Michigan, with regional offices throughout the U.S., Mexico, Brazil, and Canada. FANUC designs, engineers, and manufactures both robots and robotic systems. FANUC's robots are used to automate single processes or whole operations. The company's target markets include the aerospace, agriculture, automotive, consumer goods, health care, metals, pharmaceuticals, plastics, and transportation industries. FANUC was formed as a joint venture with General Motors corporation in 1982, and in 1992 became a wholly owned subsidiary of FANUC LTD of Oshino-mura, Japan.
