Open Channel Foundation publishes and distributes open source technology and its parent company, Open Channel Software, commercializes software. The Chicago-based firm distributes university and NASA products, focusing on engineering, logistics, and technology aids. OCS began in 1999, when two professors wanted to commercialize technology created at their university. OCF products cover topics such as failure analysis, parallel processing, economics, satellite communications, thermodynamics, cargo distribution, radar, orbital mechanics, x-ray spectroscopy, and traffic engineering.
