Handmark (R) Incorporated, established in 2000 and based in Kansas City, Missouri, develops and publishes software for mobile devices. The company's products are sold through 8,400 retail outlets. Programs also are sold online. Handmark offers customers PDA versions of Scrabble (R), Monopoly (R), Tetris (R), Trivial Pursuit (R), Yahtzee (R), and other games. It also is known for its Pocket Money, Mobile DB (TM), Oxford American Desk Dictionary and Thesaurus, and Rand McNally StreetFinder and Road Atlas programs. The firm originally was known as Palmspring Software Incorporated. It changed its name to Handmark in 2000. In the same year, the company went public, finding $1.4 million in investment capital. The firm acquired Memoware in 2001 and pdaBookstore.com in 2003. Handmark maintains additional offices in Grapevine, Texas. The company and its products have won recognition from 'Business Journal of Kansas City,' 'Handheld Computing Magazine,' and 'Laptop Magazine.' Its Handmark Pocket Express (R) information service won the DEMOmobile 2004 DEMOgod (TM) award.
