ADC Telecommunications Incorporated is ADC, The Broadband Company (TM). ADC is a large firm offering services to telephone and cable companies, network operators, broadcasters, and other service providers. ADC is an international firm with offices in over 35 nations and over 5,800 employees. ADC is organized into six major units: Wireless, Wireline, IP Cable, Connectivity, Software Systems, and Systems Integration Services. ADC's offerings include Cuda, a line of CMTS platforms for multiple system operators (MSOs); Digivance (TM) RT transport products; Metrica (R), for quality of service (QoS) applications; and FastFlow Broadband Provisioning Manager. ADC was launched by engineer Ralph Allison in 1935. The new company's first product was an audiometer. By the early 1940's, ADC was producing a complete audio system. In 1949, ADC began selling electronics and telecommunications equipment. In 1961, the firm merged with power supplier Magnetic Controls and changed its name to ADC Magnetic Controls. In the 1970's, ADC became the largest U.S. supplier of test boards. After the deregulation of the U.S. telephone firms, ADC became a leading supplier of equipment to telephone companies. In the 1980's, ADC divested its magnetics business and became ADC Telecommunications. ADC Telecommunications is a public company (NASDAQ: ADCT).
