CareerBuilder Incorporated, founded in 1995 as NetStart Incorporated, is known for its CareerBuilder.com (TM) web site and TeamBuilder software. TeamBuilder Online, introduced in 1997, is a browser-based recruiting application. The web site posts job listings and resumes. It provides job seekers worldwide with resume writing and distribution, resume database, job search and recommendation, and other features. It provides recruiters with applicant search and e-mail update features. CareerBuilder.com is accessed by 26 million visitors per month. The employment resource is accessed through Gannett, McClatchy, and Tribune newspaper web sites. Approximately 2.3 million readers access CareerBuilder.com through the USATODAY.com web site. NetStart Incorporated was renamed CareerBuilder Incorporated in 1998. The following year, the firm went public. It also was awarded its first patent in 1999. CareerBuilder, Tribune Company, Knight Ridder, and CareerPath merged in 2000. A year later, working with DLT Solutions Incorporated, the company began providing government agencies with recruiting products and services. CareerBuilder acquired Headhunter in 2001. It has formed alliances with MSN, America Online, ABC, Clear Channel, and 900 other companies. Gannett became a CareerBuilder partners in 2002. McClatchy acquired Knight Ridder and an ownership stake in CareerBuilder in 2006.
