The International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), based in Austria, is a non-governmental research organization that conducts interdisciplinary studies on global environmental, economic, technological, and social issues. It is sponsored by member agencies across Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America. National member organizations include the Austrian Academy of Sciences, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Egypt's Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT), the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Swedish Research Council for Environment, Agricultural Sciences and Spatial Planning (FORMAS). National science academies from the U.S., Estonia, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, and Poland also are IIASA members.
