Identix Incorporated offers fingerprint technology solutions for network access control and security, and for law enforcement-related applications. Identix's products are in use around the world by corporations and immigration, welfare, and law enforcement agencies. Founded in 1982, Identix is a publicly traded company (NASDAQ:IDNX). It was formed from the merger of Identix and Digital Biometrics. It later acquired Visionics, a leader in live scan technology; and Identicator Technology, a biometrics security firm. In 1999, the former Digital Biometrics introduced IBIS and FingerPrinter CMS, a leading fingerprint recognition. In 2000, Identix released the first postage-stamp--sized fingerprint reader. In 2001, it announced itrust, a comprehensive biometric system for enterprises, protecting wireline and wireless networks. In 2002, the company merged with Visionics. Identix offerings include FaceIt, Identicator BioLogon, and SmartFace. The firm's many clients include Ontario, California; Birmingham, England; Ybor City, Florida; Spain's Expo '92; and the New York City Police Department. Its products have been certified by the FBI.
