Versus Technology Incorporated, founded in 1988 as a Base Ten Systems Incorporated subsidiary, was launched as an independent public company in 1989. The firm originally developed and manufactured Derived Channel MultipleX (DCX) data transport networks. In 1993, Versus Technology acquired infrared (IR) locating system technology. A year later, it sold its DCX unit and began focusing on IR development. In 1996, the company acquired technological consulting firm Olmsted Engineering Company (OEC). A year later, it entered a licensing agreement with IR locating technology firm Precision Tracking FM Incorporated (PTFM). The acquisition linked Versus Technology with Dukane Corporation, Rauland-Borg Corporation, WEST-COM, and other resellers. The company has developed application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) chip, real-time locating system (RTLS), and XML browser products. Its markets the VIS (TM) Security Manager asset control system and other products to enterprise, hospital emergency department, and other customers. Versus Technology serves 48 percent of the U.S. health care wireless and location tracking market. The vendor has won recognition from Frost & Sullivan and Deloitte & Touche.
