Bernan publishes a wide range of reference works produced by U.S. government agencies and international organizations. Bernan provides academic, public, law, and corporate libraries with access to government books, journals, CD-ROMs, and other reference works. The company was founded in 1952 with the mission of distributing titles produced by the U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO). In the 1980's, it was purchased by the privately held UNIPUB. Bernan now publishes materials produced by the United Nations, UNESCO, and other international organizations. It distributes over 45,000 titles. Its Bernan Press imprint publishes the 'Handbook of U.S. Labor Statistics,' the 'Datapedia of the U.S.,' and 'A Statistical Portrait of the United States.' Bernan Press acquired Almanac Publishing Incorporated in 1998, allowing the company to publish 'The Almanac of the Unelected,' which contains information on 700 non-elected U.S. government senior staffers. Bernan's Bernan Press imprint also has published references works for the World Trade Organization (WTO). A partnership with the WTO has resulted in the publication of the 'Trade Policy Review,' available in print and CD editions. Bernan is located in Lanham, Maryland.
