WACOM Company Limited builds award-winning pen tablets and digitizing pens. The vendor introduced the cordless, battery-free, pressure-sensitive pen. It also pioneered digitizing tablets, used by artists and designers, such as its Graphire, Intuos, and Ciniq. Wacom Technology is the U.S. office of Wacom Company, a Japanese firm founded in 1983 as WACOM KK. In 1986, the firm introduced a miniature tablet. In 1987, it released its SD series of professional graphics tablets. In 1990, WACOM introduced the HD0640A LCD tablet. In 1991, the company established a U.S. sales office. WACOM later introduced a pen computer , ArtPad tablet , kanji recognition software , PL-300 color LCD pen tablet , Intuos tablet , and Graphire2/FAVO . In 2003, WACOM was listed on the Japanese SDA exchange (JASDAQ: 6727) as a public company.
