TechSmith, founded by William Hamilton and incorporated in 1987, is a provider of screen capture and screen recording software for both professionals and individuals. Originally built to design custom software for Windows, TechSmith soon entered the market of screen capture tools, having launched its first independent product SnagIt (R) in the mid-1990’s. SnagIt (R) is a robust screen capture and editing tool. SnagIt (R) and Camtasia Studio, released in 2004 to enable the top-quality robust on-screen activity recording and video production, can be used to create materials and videos for multiple purposes, including corporate training, digital forensics and evidence collection, software demonstrations, and distance learning. Another TechSmith product, released in 2004, is an all-digital solution Morae. Morae synchronizes user speech and facial expressions with computer system data and detailed application to demonstrate a unique view into the way Web sites, intranets, and desktop software are experienced and seen. TechSmith products enable the users to capture activity and images from Window desktops, including animation, video, and text, and apply special effects to enhance the captured material. TechSmith software is used in 37 countries, and the firm’s customers include Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, educational institutions, and home PC users.
