DeLorme builds maps, atlases, and mapping-related software. Launched in 1976, the firm has been a leading provider of printed and electronic maps. In the 1970's, DeLorme published state atlases for the U.S. In the mid-1980's, the firm began developing digital mapping applications. Its first offering, Street Atlas USA (R), was released in 1991, making it one of the earliest entrants in this field. In 1994, DeLorme began publishing Web sites such as CyberRouter (TM) and CyberAtlas (R). During 1996, DeLorme introduced its first hardware product, the DeLorme GpsTripmate (R) GPS (global positioning system) receiver. Today, the firm also offers products such as SMpa (R) Business, AAA Map'n'Go, 3-D TopQuads (TM), XMap, and Topo USA (R).
