Scientific Software International Incorporated, or SSI, was founded in 1971 by Darrell Bock. The firm publishes scientific and technical software and books. It offers software developers marketing, editing, documentation, and other services. The firm also distributes software and adapts programs to multiple operating systems. SSI provides customers with technical support services and training sessions. The company currently finds most of its sales from the personal computer market, but it continues to serve mainframe users. Products include MULTIVARIANCE, BILOG, BILOG-MG, MULTILOG, TESTFACT, PARSCALE, PRELIS, LISREL, HLM, and AUXAL. MULTIVARIANCE, the firm's first product, performs univariate and multivariate analysis of variance for any design up to 10 factors. BILOG is SSI's central item analysis and test scoring application. The TESTFACT program provides classical test scoring and item factor analysis features. The PRELIS and LISREL structural equation modeling programs are SSI's most profitable products.
