Educational Testing Service, or ETS (R), is a private, nonprofit organization that provides clients with K-12, college, and professional development tests and services. The organization's products are employed by individuals, schools, businesses, and government agencies in 180 countries. ETS is known for its AP (R), GRE (R), iSkills (TM), MAPP (TM), PRAXIS (TM), SAT (R), and TOEFL tests. It administers millions of achievement and admissions tests per year. ETS also is known for the Criterion (SM), FOS (SM), and ScoreItNow! (SM) services. Criterion is an online writing evaluation system that includes score reporting and student planning features. The online ProofWriter (TM) service allows students to analyze documents and identify grammar and style problems. ETS also offers clients technical support, research, and other services. The organization maintains offices worldwide. ETS was founded in 1947. Its products and services were built on the combined intellectual assets of the American Council on Education, the Carnegie Entrance Examination Board, and the College Entrance Examination Board. ETS is governed by a board of trustees. The organization is based in Princeton, New Jersey.
