The Peripheral Component Interconnect Special Interest Group, or PCI-SIG (R), founded in 1992, develops, revises, and promotes the PCI input-output standard. The standard includes chip-level interconnect, adapter card, power management, device driver, and other definitions. Management of PCI-X, PCI Express (TM), and other PCI specifications is handled by the organization's approximately 900 development community members. PCI-SIG is managed by an elected, nine-member board of directors. PCI-SIG tests systems for interoperability. It disseminates technical information. It also conducts compliance workshops and technology seminars. The group's website provides visitors with specification development, compliance program, training, and other information. PCI-SIG, in alliance with QuestTech, also offers group members technical support services.
