The National Renewable Energy Centre (CENER), established in 2002 and based in the City Of Innovation, Navarra, Spain, develops and promotes renewable energy technologies. The nonprofit organization was launched by the Government of Navarra, the Ministry of Education and Science, and the Research Centre for Energy, Environment and Technology (CIEMAT). CENER conducts research on wind, solar thermal, photovoltaic solar, and biomass energy technologies. It also conducts research on bioclimactic architecture and renewable energy grid integration. The organization operates wind turbine and photovoltaics cell test laboratories. The wind turbine laboratory is used to test blades, power trains, generators, electronics, and other components. It performs power curve, energy quality, noise, and mechanical load tests. CENER serves businesses, institutions, and government agencies across Europe and the Americas. The organization provides firms with research and development support, technology transfer, and other services.
