Electricite de France (EDF), based in Paris, is one of the world's largest electric power energy companies. The state-owned utilities organization has a generating capacity of over 124,000MW. EDF supplies power to 28.2 million customers across France. It supplies power to 9.6 million customers across other European countries. Seventy percent of the firm's power is generated by nuclear plants. Thermal, hydroelectric, and renewable energy plants also are employed in generating electricity. The company operates power plants in Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. The organization includes trading, transmission, and distribution businesses. It provides general consumers and business customers with payment, electric meter monitoring, and other web-based services. EDF is listed on the Euronext Paris Stock Exchange under the EDF symbol.
