Caringo Incorporated, based in Austin, Texas, is a privately held company that provides customers with storage node software that operates on commodity hardware. The company's applications can be loaded on USB memory keys. The keys are employed in creating CAStor parallel storage clusters. The CAStor platform supports scalable data archiving and real-time data access. CAStor employs an HTTP subset as an interface, allowing the technology to integrate with cellular telephone, mainframe, and other systems. The application does not require the creation of new code. CAStor, built on Caringo's Zero File System (ZFS), creates a flat, 128-bit address space that does not employ hierarchies. Each object employs a unique identification marker. Unlike other Content Addressed Storage (CAS) architectures, the CAStor address space is not vulnerable to attacks. Caringo's proprietary Content Integrity Seal transparently upgrades integrity hash functions during operation, preventing attacks. CAStor File System Gateway (FSG) provides legacy applications with file system access to CAStor. Caringo's technology integrates with e-mail archiving, picture archiving, enterprise content management, and other business systems. The firm's products are employed by organizations across the health care, digital imaging, printing, financial services, and telecommunications sectors.
