Universal Technical Systems Incorporated (UTS) began its operation in 1984 with the promise to provide high-caliber software and services. Initial software products consisted of gear analysis applications in design, manufacturing, and quality assurance. In 1985, UTS expanded its product line with TK Solver, an all-purpose math modeling and programming application which was acquired from Lotus. Since 1985, UTS has made significant enhancements to TK Solver, converted the original gear analysis applications to run on TK, developed new applications based on popular technical reference books, and now has a family of applications to address everyday problems faced in engineering and science. UTS now supports over 100,000 customers. Headquartered 70 miles Northwest of Chicago in Rockford, Illinois, it is currently managed by its founders, who also hold major equity in the company. UTS employs approximately 25 people, most of whom are located in the Rockford office.
