TechLink (R), founded in 1996 and based in Bozeman, Montana, is a privately held company that licenses technologies developed by federal agency laboratories. The firm was established at Montana State University at Bozeman by NASA. In 1999, NASA and the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD)extended funding for the company. The firm works with 10 NASA research centers and 67 DoD laboratories. It has formed 480 technology transfer partnerships with a variety of businesses. TechLink assists companies in finding federal funding. It has secured $64 million in research and development funding from federal agencies for partner companies. Since 2002, TechLink has handled 30 percent of DoD licensing. The company has supported the licensing and commercialization of advanced material, nanotechnology, aerospace, biomedicine, electronics, photonics, remote sensor, information management software, and other technologies.
