Macmillan Publishers Limited is a well known international publisher, with offices in 41 nations. Its dozens of divisions focus on different types of publishing and on providing publishing services. Its imprints include MacMillan Education, Nature Publishing Group ('Scientific American'), and Palgrave Macmillan. Macmillan was founded by the Macmillan brothers in 1843. The company represented authors such as Lewis Carroll and Thomas Hardy. It introduced the journal 'Nature' in 1869. In 1936, Macmillan published Keynes' 'The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money.' In the 1980's, the publisher produced several dictionaries, including the well known 'Grove Dictionary of Art.' In 2000, Macmillan launched Emacmillan, an e-business division. Macmillan's online offerings include Exam.net, the online edition of 'Macmillan English Dictionary,' and Kodansha: Encyclopedia of Japan.
