Scientific Solutions Incorporated created the PC-based data acquisition (DAQ) industry with the introduction of the very first data acquisition product line for the PC. The company was formed in 1974 to design, manufacture, market, and support data acquisition and process control products for personal computers. Its product line, which since 1981 has concentrated on the IBM PC platform, is designed for laboratory and industrial automation applications. It includes IEEE interfaces, analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters, digital I/O interfaces, and data acquisition software development kits. Scientific Solutions' LabMaster board was the first data acquisition (DAQ) product to be introduced for the IBM PC (in 1980) and other products have since followed, including DADIO, Lab Tender, Base Board, LabMaster DMA, and Lab Master AD. Scientific Solutions' products have been strong in the traditional laboratory market. Its position of being first with data acquisition products for the PC has provided strength in the market. The firm's products are used in a variety of industries, including process control, energy management, electrophysiology, physiology response labs, product development, testing and measurment, and monitoring of industrial processes. Scientific Solutions' products are made in the U.S. and marketed worldwide.
