Founded in 1981, Quark is a leading provider of publishing platform software. The privately held company was founded in Denver, Colorado, but has offices around the world and claims more than three million users in more than 100 countries. The company's first product, QuarkXPress (R), was released in 1987 when desktop publishing was at its earlier stages and was one of the first to offer precision typography, layout, and color control for the desktop computer. Beside QuarkXPress, the company's other offerings address various aspects of media publishing needs, including add-on modules, an interactive designer, prepress tools, a license administrator, a copy desk platform, a server for creation of web-based and data-driven applications, a content manager, and a publishing system.
