Adobe Systems has teamed with Google and Yahoo! to improve the search results for dynamic web content, Rich Internet Applications (RIAs) and other Flash Player based content. In the past, individuals and organizations with Flash sites had to choose between reducing their use of Flash, and resorting to less-desirable workarounds to get their content included by and ranked by search engines. Adobe is providing the search companies its optimized Flash Player technology to enhance search engine indexing of the Flash file format. The technology will help the search engines deliver more relevant search rankings of the millions of sites and pages that use dynamic content. Better still, RIA developers will not be required to make any changes to their existing or future content for improved searchability. According to Adobe, Google has already integrated the technology and Yahoo! is working to do so. An Adobe evangelist explained the technology provides 'a very powerful looking glass into (Flash file format content) so Google and Yahoo can pull out meaningful information.' The search-engine optimization consultancy Global Strategies International described the technology as an 'important breakthrough to highly creative and interactive sites, such as Disney and Tiffany.com.' Site owners will no longer struggle with RIA and Flash as a hindrance to desirable organic search results, and can instead continue to produce creative, interactive content that is accessible to users.
