Title: Dangerous Liaison

It is not news that Microsoft has been trying to purchase Yahoo!, but what is news is that Yahoo! may have a lifeline in the form of a wager being discussed with Time Warner Inc.. Time Warner would like to exchange AOL LLC and an undisclosed amount of cash for a minority stake in what would be the combined company. This is likely not stopping Microsoft from dreaming and hoping, with rumors swirling that the company is working with News Corp. in order to offer even more money for Yahoo!. The fact that Microsoft's CEO would be willing to work with News Corp. signals just how nervous Microsoft is about losing out on purchasing Yahoo!. This is primarily because News Corp. has a history of knowing when to get in and out of markets. If MySpace gets flipped, this signifies something important about the future of social networking. At the same time that these liaisons are being observed, Micrel Inc. has been approached by executives from ON Semiconductor Corp. working to purchase Micrel. The main reason for the lack of purchase is simply that the CEO and founder of Micrel rebuffed their offer.

Companies:
AOL LLC Micrel Inc
Microsoft Corp MySpace Inc
News Corp ON Semiconductor Corp
Time Warner Inc Yahoo! Inc
