Strategies for management and security should be the top priority of IT professionals when it comes to virtualization. Companies are found to be increasing the number of virtual machines (VMs) as long as they do not slow down the levels of application service. Another trend among companies is the rise in acquisition of IT help to build and manage virtual environments. A large number of IT professionals found technical aspects to be the biggest challenges in the VM world, while others consider organizational and political issues to be the biggest hurdle in handling virtualized environments. While IT people invest more to bring in new tools to enhance office virtualization, political issues may be more difficult to resolve. Desktop virtualization appears to catch on slowly among companies since it takes time to plan and implement. It also proves to be more advantageous to IT administrators because it gives the impression of a desktop computer and it cuts costs related to maintaining desktop computers. Security is another benefit resulting from virtualization initiatives. IT professionals are found to be satisfied with the ROI brought about by virtualization efforts. Although exact ROI figures are difficult to assign to virtualization, it can be said that virtualization helps companies reduce costs as it enhances flexibility in the business. Aside from cost benefits, IT administrators are also attracted to the virtualization idea due to improvements in disaster recovery that the technology provides.
