Comcast Corp. is widely referred to as a cable titan that has been deliberately delaying the traffic of Internet users, which has resulted in many officials around and inside of Washington D.C. to look into whether or not Comcast Corp. is playing favorites with Internet users. One particularly invested Democrat from Massachusetts has been working on drafting a bill that would work to more seriously protect Internet traffic so that the traffic would be protected similarly to how telephone calls are protected. Telephone companies are required to connect users, regardless of who they are, immediately and without hesitation. The implication here is then that Comcast Corp., as well as other Internet service providers, would be required to stop playing favorites and start connecting individuals without any type of favoritism. At the same time, officials are looking in to the actions and activities of companies and users who are involved with Time Warner Inc.'s Time-Warner Cable and AT&T Inc. in order to discover the true frequency of piracy when it comes to movies, music and other copyrighted works of art. While it might be expected that the FCC would be utilized to referee bandwidth issues, the rules that are in effect for the Internet may make the FCC unable to actually help with these types of concerns and issues because they have effectively limited themselves from helping through their own mandates.
