B-to-b email marketers have devised means to make sure their emails are received and read in different mobile devices. Marketers are confronted with many challenges when working on the design of their messages, but the biggest one is their lack of control over the type of email client consumers will be reading their messages on. A message viewed on a BlackBerry may appear vastly different than it would on any other mobile device. This is because there are no best practices standards for creating content for mobile devices. However, there are ways that can help marketers successfully deliver emails to clients and prospective clients using mobile devices. Marketers can poll their audience to determine what percentage are mobile users. Or, opt-in materials distributed by marketers may include a field in which new subscribers can fill out how they will be viewing their messages. From that information, marketers can design their emails accordingly. Marketers must make sure that their emails are in text-only mode by using the multipart MIME standard. This will allow marketers to easily control the appearance and feel of the message in the mobile box. Marketers must also make sure that the content is brief because subject lines and page widths are limited in mobile devices. This means, marketers must include the brand or product name at the beginning of the subject lines.
