Middleware components play a critical role in ensuring the success of a distributed computing model. Clients and servers tap software, including network libraries, to act as middlemen. Data is channeled from database clients to a remote or local database server. In addition, premium-quality data access middleware provides several features to aid developers in confronting various issues, including common round trips to databases and high network latency. Database communications can also be enhanced every time a connection is made with the help of premium-quality data access middleware. This is due to the fact that SQL protocols such as SRDA and TNS run at a point above TCP/IP. Any strong enterprise or web application should feature best-of-breed middleware. A checklist of data access middleware features should be prepared by IT managers and enterprise architects to support websites, services and applications. Premium-quality data access middleware must offer multiplatform flexibility, robust performance, scalability solutions, broad connectivity and interoperability; security, reliability and integrity; and compliance with standards. Overall, enterprises must ensure that they adopt a consistent and robust system that delivers transactional integrity and support data. In this way, companies will not be victims of any inferior middleware components.
