Jamcracker and XO Communications have struck a deal to bring a collaboration, mobility and security software suite targeted to small and midsize businesses (SMBs). The deal involves IP service provider XO bringing the services via Jamcracker Services Delivery Network (JSDN), the facilities-based IP network of Jamcracker. XO, which covers 75 metropolitan markets, announced the deal alongside Jamcracker at the ISPCon Spring event. The companies plan to deliver the services in two phases, with the first one to be done through XOs reseller channel partners. Included in the first phase are Arsenal Digital Solutions online desktop backup, hosted services for Blackberry, McAfee Total Protection, and Microsoft Exchange Server email and Sharepoint collaboration. The second phase will involve value-added services. Through JSDN, XO will gain access to features such as IT automation, vendor management, and support and billing administration. The new services are expected to suit SMBs, which are becoming more interested in hiring third parties for their IT and network operations. The agreement is an example of how new channels are being built in the SAAS (software as a service) market. Other IP carriers are also offering services to SMBs, although Jamcracker has more significant experience compared to such carriers.
