XenSources XenEnterprise 3.2 beta displayed progress when tested on a Hewlett-Packard HP Pavilion dv900 notebook featuring Advanced Micro Devices Turion 64 X2 dual-core processors. The machine is not well designed for deployment, but its CPU and 2GB of RAM were sufficient for testing XenEnterprise. XenEnterprise now has the ability to host Microsoft Windows and other unmodified operating systems. But like Virtual Iron Softwares Virtual Iron 3.5, XenEnterprise depends on a particular hardware for hosting unmodified operating systems. The appearance of XenEnterpises management console is rather more polished but delivers limited range, in contrast with Virtual Iron 3.5. For example, the console features functions for either docking or undocking the graphical console, as well as for maximizing an undocked console if it was previously minimized. This interface functionality is very useful when there are many virtual machine consoles open simultaneously. However, XenEnterprise console is not capable of carrying out the task of configuring iSCI storage on virtualization nodes. Users would need to link to their virtualization servers through SSH (Secure Shell) to perform the configuration of iSCI through the command line. Performing configurations via the command line can become difficult if the user has vast amounts of hosts to configure. The management console of XenEnterprise is supported by both Windows and Linux, thanks to its .Net Virtual Infrastructure Client. The XenEnterprise management tools are available in RPM (RedHat Package Manager) packages. This is the same format utilized by Red Hat, SUSE distributors, and others.
